Let's Talk About Love

Qixi Festival is the Chinese equivalent of Valentine’s Day. Unlike in America, they do not celebrate with flowers, chocolate and other lavish gifts. Yet, it is a day that is devoted to love just as America’s Valentine’s Day.

Unfortunately, many women in China are “leftover women”, which translates to “shengnu” in Chinese. The term is coined more towards professional women. These women have not married by their late 20’s. The pressure to marry by friends, especially family, is very high in China. Parents would even go as far as relentlessly trying to find bachelors for their daughters/sons, in hopes that love can transpire and eventually marriage.

According to Ni Lin, a host to a popular matchmaking television show in Shanghai said,

“Chinese people often think males should be higher in a relationship in every sense, including height, age, education and salary. This leads to a phenomenon in which A-grade men marry B-grade women, B-grade men marry C-grade women and C-grade men marry D-grade women. Only A-grade women and D-grade men can’t find partners.”

Despite this being a problem in China, this can happen anywhere in the world. There are over six billion people in the world. Yet, there will always be one person that has trouble finding the person to the end of their red string.

Throughout the duration of my adult years, I have yet to find my “one”. I’m still young, but I feel behind when I notice everyone around me has someone important to them, while I’m still alone. Then I think to myself, “Could there be something wrong with me? Why haven’t I found someone yet?”

It’s frustrating and I have even came to a point when I wanted to give up finding someone. I don’t want to become a “leftover woman”. I’ll be 30 in only five more years and I still have yet to have a serious relationship :x

As for the women in China, sometimes it’s better to be a “leftover” than be stuck in a miserable and loveless marriage.

Now let’s talk about you…

…Or let’s talk about us.

No…let’s talk about the most awesome panda ever. SEUNGRI!

On August 19th, Seungri will return to the solo scene with his first song titled, “Let’s Talk About Love.”

Today, he wrote on his facebook:

I will introduce the first song 'Let's Talk About Love.' It wasn't too hard choosing this album's theme. Since a love song is the best song to get closer to the fans and the general public, I wanted to make an album that was filled with love stories. Love... yes love. I'm not sure if it was love or not but I've had times when I was happy and was hurt. It probably was love. Love song sung by three handsome men. Seungri, G-Dragon, and Taeyang. The combination of these three names felt awkward but not strange. Although we're the same team, they're unique.... Because we were all working on each of our solo albums, we ran into each other a lot in the studio. I wanted to work with the hyungs. Even just the thought of it was exciting. Sophisticated beats and simple instrument sounds, just those were enough. I made my own part and the hyungs made their parts. Jiyong hyung made an awesome rap, and Taeyang hyung finished an awesome melody in the bridge part. It felt like I was drawing and the member hyungs were coloring in the rest for me. Since the song was put together by them, I'm confident about it. In addition, it's going to be a song that will raise the anticipation for their upcoming solo albums. PS. Jiyong hyung, Youngbae hyung, I love you for real.

Seungri is someone that I recently started to pay more attention. Earlier this year, I decided to learn more about the members of Big Bang. From watching random videos of panda on Youtube, I couldn’t help but to notice his funny persona. He seems like a likable person, not to mention how adorably handsome he is! I'm really excited to hear this song!

  1. Trust me I'm almost 30 (29 this November) and haven't been in a serious relationship either and know another blogger friend younger than you who married at eighteen and is happy with three children. People are different and so are relationships, don't worry about finding someone it will happen if that's what you desire. It is sad when your achievements become obstacles in any part in life but never let that force you to downgrade yourself. Yay to celebrations, future love and pandas.

Please check out my blog tomorrow for some exciting news. Hope you're well Britt.

    1. Wow, really? I've seen a blogger younger than me that is similar, but without children. Everyone's situation is different when it comes to a relationship, you're right about that. Something that may work for that couple, may not work for another. Haha, a definite hooray for pandas!

Sure thing, I'll check out your blog!
